Recommended Equipment for Photo Walks.

 

Drink and food for the day ( Money in case you call into a cafe/pub).

Headtorch and whistle.

Phone (spare battery pack).

Personal medication (if necessary).

20 ltr + camera bag or rucksack with a waterproof cover.

Dry-bags  (or plastic bags) to store items inside your rucksack/camera bag.

Insurance. (Optional but please be aware it is not included in any workshop price).

I always carry a small group shelter and a basic small first aid kit.

 

Winter

Thermal top and bottom under layer (even if you carry them in your rucksack).

T-shirt and walking trousers. (NOT jeans… for obvious reasons).

Warm mid-layer (lightweight fleece).

Over layer of quality waterproof trousers and coat. It rains in Wales!

Gloves that are suitable for the wet and cold. ( I wear thin underlayer gloves and then winter grade mits over the top in full winter).

Walking boots and walking socks.

Hat.

Spare socks.

Buff/scarf.

Spikes or ice grips (only if ice is predicted).

Gaitors (optional).

Down jacket or similar for standing around.

Warm packs for cold fingers, bottoms or lenses.

Optional - walking poles.

 

Summer

Adapt the above list as necessary .

Insect repellent.

Sunscreen.

Extra water.

Sunglasses.

 

Camera Kit

Camera and lenses.

Memory Cards.

Filters.

Tripod.

Lens cloths.

Spare Batteries - The cold, live view and long exposure photography will eat batteries.

Night photography - intervalometer and batteries.

 

Important

 

**Please think carefully about weight. Stick to one or two lenses, lightweight tripods and layers rather than bulky heavy clothes.

 

** If you don’t possess some of the above for a workshop, contact me as I may have spare ones.
