I invited Helen to give a talk at our camera club in Ilkley – I had been inspired for a while by her amazing landscape photography and felt it was just too good not to share with my fellow photographers. Helen gave an outstanding talk and wowed the audience, not just with her wonderful images but her tales of wild camping and mountain rescue – all presented with humour and warmth. It was without a doubt one of the best and most enjoyable presentations we have had at the club – Helen you are always assured a warm welcome here at Ilkley Camera Club and we hope to see you again soon.
I recently spent a day in the mountains with Helen on a photoguiding workshop and the experience comes highly recommended. Prior to the day Helen took time to plan the day based about my requirements and to answer my many questions. The day itself was unusually mild and sunny for a Welsh winter day which didn't make for the best photography conditions - but that didn't matter as Helen expertely guided me up , and back down one of the peaks, imparting many tips during the process. The workshop left me with a renewed confidence to tackle the mountains on my own and with far more knowledge of this wonderful area. Extremely passionate about the mountains and photography, Helen is also a throughly nice person so if you are looking for a guide in either area look no further.

Feedback from recent talk....
.......In advance of the trip we received helpful information briefing us on what was planned and what to bring. Her knowledge of the locations, how to get there and the highlights of each location were very helpful. During the photography sessions she is always attentive and moves between the group ensuring individuals are meeting their goals and are not missing options. Even although the second trip was wetter than the first Helen helped us to make the most of our time away and to capture some great photos. On a final note Helen’s photography is inspirational and that is what prompted us to get in touch, I’m glad we did as we have been able to enjoy both her advice and her company as we explore North Wales.

'Three like-minded photographers spent two enjoyable days out with Helen Iles Photography in southern and central Snowdonia last week. Helen's intimate knowledge of the area in which she has spent most of her life proved to be invaluable and maximised our time in this stunning region. Knowing what locations would work well for any given potential weather, time of year and prevailing lighting conditions was a real bonus..(and more importantly where to stop for tea and cake).
Helen was readily forthcoming in her encyclopaedic knowledge of the
geographical area, potential photographic compositional techniques and other technical aspects of photography. We would not hesitate to work with Helen again if the opportunity arises, especially if we wanted to go beyond our 'comfort zone' and spend more time at the higher elevations and at more challenging locations with someone who clearly has first-hand knowledge of working and taking photographs in difficult mountain terrain'.

'I have undertaken one to one photography tuition with Helen Iles, an experienced professional photographer and inspirational teacher. I believe Helen’s workshops offer the best possible way to master your camera and to learn how to take better pictures. My session began with a consultation designed to identify my level of ability. The subsequent three-hour workshop was tailored to my individual needs. I now understand how to use the most appropriate camera controls and how to compose images . Helen’s vast knowledge and enthusiasm makes her an ideal tutor for all levels of competency'.
